The Lyric Dragon has gathered much of his knowledge about Dio´s
lyrics from deep studies of Tapio's Ronnie James Dio Pages,
an invaluable treasure chest of knowledge.
The Lyric Dragon knows 2 search modes: words
and phrases.
Additionally, when As Song is checked, the
dragon returns the complete text for a song instead of just the matching verses.
Search for Keywords
In this mode, the dragon treats every entered word as a key.
Key words can be combined using the following operators (highest precedence first):
 |
( ... ) |
Parentheses can be used to group keyword combinations |
|
! (not) |
! or not negates the following keyword;
i.e., not hell would return all verses that do not
contain the word "hell". |
|
& (and) |
& or and combines two keywords and
returns all verses that contain both keywords; i.e. heaven and hell
would return all verses that contain both the words "heaven" and
"hell", in no particular order |
|
| (or) |
| or or combines two keywords and
returns all verses that contain at least one of them; e.g. heaven or hell
would return all verses that contain either "heaven", or "hell", or
both, in no particular order.
If there is no operator between 2 keywords, or is silently
assumed. |
|
+ (required) |
this has been added since it's a common feature in search machines; it
means that the following keyword must be part of a verse. For
example, +heaven hungry hell would return all verses that
contain "heaven" and either "hungry", or "hell", or both. |
Search for Phrases
In this mode, the dragon takes all entered words and compares
them, in the entered order, to the lyrics. In this mode, heaven and hell
would return all verses that contain the phrase "heaven and hell", in exactly
this order.
